About Us

Rob Medcraft is the craftsman and designer behind every product that bears the Rob's Kentucky Woodshop brand.  As a self-taught woodworker, his skill evolved from an innate need to “tinker” and learn. Rob’s interest in woodworking began with the creation of wooden boxes and evolved over time to include various styles of furniture. These days, his skills have morphed into home remodeling and interior design projects as well as furniture that often involves repurposed wood. Rob’s creative style reflects simplicity, functionality and tasteful inlay designs. In the beginning, woodworking was a creative outlet that he pursued as a hobby. But as the years passed, his paid work experiences merged with his creative woodworking abilities and ultimately led to the decision to open a business that could honor both.

Since the inception of Rob’s Kentucky Woodshop, our mission has been rooted in a high standard and strong work ethic. Rob’s collaboration with customers drives most of the furniture and interior design projects, as we strive to give patrons the piece they envision and will be proud to have in their home. All of our products are handmade in our small wood shop in Louisville, Kentucky. Rob loves to re-use and re-purpose older wood and furniture when possible or appropriate, but we also use locally grown and harvested hardwoods from Kentucky.
 
As you explore this website, you will get a feel for the variety of pieces that Rob can produce.  Some rustic, some fine. 
All with an attention to detail that ensures a handcrafted product you will be happy with.
